NZCF Charter of Support
The New Zealand Cadet Forces (NZCF) comprise three Corps; the Sea Cadet Corps, the New Zealand Cadet Corps and the Air Training Corps (ATC). Collectively, they form a voluntary youth development organisation modelled on the New Zealand Defence Force (NZDF). The NZCF are not part of the NZDF, but are maintained under the direction of the Chief of Defence Force on behalf of the Minister of Defence. The NZCF are supported in partnership by the NZDF and the Recognised Support Organisations (RSO) representing the local communities in which the cadet units are established.
In the case of the Air Training Corps the RSO is the Air Training Corps Association of New Zealand Incorporated (ATCANZ).
The Charter of Support establishes and defines joint and separate NZDF and community responsibilities and understanding for the provision of general support to the NZCF, including Cadet Units. It reflects the provisions of Part VI of the Defence Act 1990 and has the status of a memorandum of understanding for this purpose.
The Participants in the Charter are:
